Learn

The philosophy behind our curriculum is that young children learn best by doing. Learning isn’t just repeating what someone else says; it requires active thinking and experimenting to find out how things work and to learn firsthand about the world we live in. Little Green Oak employs the use of the HighReach Learning curriculum which incorporates experiences that permit learning through guided play and active discovery.

The High Reach Learning curriculum considers the whole child – cognitively, socially, and physically. By incorporating the latest research on early childhood, including Piaget’s Constructivist Theory, Bruner’s Theory of Discovery Learning, Bergen’s Theory of Play, active exploration, and the most current NAEYC Developmentally Appropriate Practice Guidelines, HighReach Learning has created a truly balanced, innovative, and interest-driven curriculum for children birth to five.

Toddler Curriculum

In their quest for independence, toddlers are developing many new skills – walking, talking, and discovering what they can do. The curriculum implemented encourages their sense of discovery, while developing language skills through investigative, meaningful learning experiences.

Twos Curriculum

Two-year-olds are constantly in motion and use their natural curiosity for hands-on discovery. They are provided with a rich learning environment that develops self-regulation and cognitive skills and expands vocabulary.

Preschool Curriculum

Build on three-year-olds’ “I can do it!” attitude through integrated, hands-on learning experiences. We use experimentation and exploration to build higher-level thinking, language, math, social, and motor skills with the fun and challenging experiences.

Pre-K Curriculum

Building a foundation for lifelong learning through play, we allow children to investigate new interests and experiences. Children gain independence and self-confidence with their growing abilities, while achieving readiness skills needed for kindergarten
